About us:

The Long Island Regional Planning Council was formed in 2008, from the original Long Island Regional Planning Board, and established by founding legislation in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, to promote the physical, economic and social health and well-being of the Long Island region and its residents.

The Long Island Regional Planning Council serves as a catalyst for action by proposing immediate and long-term implementable solutions for issues of regional concern and educating elected and appointed officials, stakeholders and residents on key issues affecting the quality of life on Long Island.

In addition to serving in its advisory role as Regional Planner, it provides research and advocates for important issues, including the economy, taxes, the environment, governance, infrastructure and equity. This includes working on critical legislation or funding, designating “Projects of Regional Significance” to ensure timely approval or rejection of major projects, and educating the public and legislators on key planning issues.
