    This opportunity provides funding to support projects that will create long-term, quantifiable ecological habitat improvements for NOAA trust resources through on the ground marine debris removal activities, with priority for those targeting derelict fishing gear and other medium and large scale debris. Priority given to projects that also foster awareness of the effects of marine debris to further the conservation of living resource habitats, and contribute to the understanding of marine debris composition, distribution, and impacts.

    The Peconic Estuary Program is looking for extra help with its rain garden in Riverhead. we will be laying down gravel stones to prevent weeds from growing around our native plants and would welcome extra hands.

    If interested, please arrive at the Riverhead Park by 10am. We recommend that you wear clothes and shoes that would be appropriate for gardening. If you happen to have a wheelbarrow that you wouldn’t mind bringing please let us know.

    Suffolk County Police Dept. along with Community Partners Smithtown Central School District and Community Association of Greater St. James, Inc. present What You Need to Know, Heroin & Prescription Drug Education and Awareness. Presentations will be given by the Suffolk County Police Dept, Community Relations Bureau, Suffolk Medical Examiner’s Office, Suffolk County Office of Mental Hygiene, and the Suffolk County Police Academy’s E.M.T. unit. Optional Narcan Training includes Free Take Home Kits. Operation Medicine Cabinet- Bring your expired or unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal by the SCPD, all are welcome, appropriate for ages 15 and older.
