Nationally notable women and local leaders have been part of Long Island’s history, though nearly invisible in most accounts.

Authors and artists, scientists and suffragists, entrepreneurs and civic activists, pioneering pilots, and innumerable other women have all left their mark on Long Island’s past. Even “ordinary” women have played an important role throughout history.

Join us March 8th, which is International Women’s Day, to learn about women in Long Island’s past in this Women’s History Month presentation.

Our speaker is Natalie Naylor, the author of Women in Long Island’s Past: A History of Eminent Ladies and Everyday Lives

This Month’s Donation Drive: At the March 8th meeting please plan to donate household items and personal hygiene products for Options for Community Living.

Pricing: Pre-registration $25 for member; $35 non-members. At door add $5. Advanced registration ends 5pm on March 7th.

Questions: WEDLIRSVP@gmail.com or call Suzanne Kirkpatrick-Nelson at (631)208-2207 or Kennetha Pettus (516)860-7507.

There are 15 member municipalities: 13 Villages, the Town, and the County. A representative from each member-municipality is appointed to serve on the Committee. the job of each representative is to represent the needs of its municipality, present ideas for the Committee activities, serve as an advisor to the Director of the committee, and, most importantly bring tools and information back to its municipality so that it can become an effective part of the effort to restore and protect Manhasset Bay and its watershed.

If you would like to volunteer to represent your Village, please email the Director (mbpcExec@gmail.com) for help in getting in touch with your Village administration.
