Some highlights include live music, food and merchandise vendors, pony rides, crab races, and various interactive displays. The festival has developed into a major event, where attendance for the past year was approximately 15,000 patrons.

    Last September we found a great variety of tropical fishes in Shinnecock Bay. We’re planning on a repeat performance this year! Join us on this adventure – timed during low tide — as we wade with seines and dip nets in search of these southern visitors. Please wear water shoes! There will be opportunities to view the creatures closely in a temporary aquarium; all animals are released at the end of the program. Limited to 15 participants; reservations are required. Program fee $10 per person ($25 per family).

    Join us for a wildlife search along Dune Road west of the Shinnecock Inlet. The trip is timed to coincide with low tide, which should enhance our chances to see diverse shorebirds and wading birds. If winds are blowing from the northwest, migrating swallows, hawks, dragonflies, and butterflies will compete for our attention. Please bring binoculars.     On this nature walk we will visit diverse habitats in Hallock State Park, from woodlands to freshwater ponds to the rocky shore of Long Island Sound. We’ll keep an eye out for wildlife large and small, learn about some of the plants of the preserve, and check for shells along the beach.
